A Rabobank survey shows that the hospitality industry and other business services, such as travel- and employment agencies, are hardest hit by the Corona crisis. For these sectors , recovery will be difficult. Besides the hospitality and other business services sector , construction will also eventually face this. Due to the late-cycling nature of the sector and the nitrogen issue, there will also be a decline in the number of new permits. As a result, construction will notice this at a later stage .
By contrast, trade (retail and wholesale sector) has already passed the low point. A better-than-expected recovery is seen in this sector. Especially in the retail sector of online shops , among others, an increase in in sales and is also expected in the third and fourth quarters.
Voor de landbouw, bosbouw en visserij wordt verwacht dat de omzet stabiel blijft. ‘’Daarmee presteert deze sector beter dan andere hoofdsectoren. Voor enkele deelsectoren, waaronder akkerbouw, kalver- en varkenshouderij, houdt de verwachte omzetdaling aan tot halverwege 2021. Voor de sierteelt, bollen en vleespluimvee verwachten we dat de omzet gaat groeien vanaf begin 2021. Voor de sierteelt en de bollen is dat na een herstelgroei van ongeveer 17 procent jaar-op-jaar in het tweede kwartaal van 2021 circa 1 procent voor het derde en het vierde kwartaal van dat jaar. Voor de vleespluimvee verwachten we een groei van 8 procent in het tweede kwartaal en respectievelijk 11 en 7 procent in het derde en vierde kwartaal van 2021’’, aldus Carin van Huët, directeur sectormanagement bij Rabobank.
Besides the sectors mentioned above, regional growth forecasts are also expected to differ, says Rabobank economist Rogier Aalders. ”The contraction is likely to be somewhat less severe in the centre of the country, while the blow is likely to be greatest in other regions. These are mainly industrial regions, sometimes complemented by a large transport sector, such as northern and southern Limburg, Zeeland and parts of Groningen and Friesland.”
